Before we get to Char’s post, we want to wish her a very happy and plant-strong birthday!
Thank you Char for all you do to make this world a better (and more plant-strong) place!

Generally, I like to discuss time saving tips in the kitchen, while shopping etc. So many times, I hear people tell me about the difficulties of becoming plant-strong, and how time consuming it is. I do believe that with time, practice, and more practice, being plant-strong does become second nature. You have taken a fork in the road, and learning new ways to cook and eat can be, well, overwhelming. But, you’ve got this.
One way to really save time? Well, it is about the discussion. You know, the one where people ask you things like:
- Where do you get your protein from?
- Not even a little salmon?
- So, when are you going to drop this diet and return to eating normal?
- What about calcium and vitamin D?
- But, I made this for you, and you’re not going to eat it?
No, Aunt Rita, I am not going to eat it, but I do appreciate your making it for me. Most of the time, the intrigue that others have about Engine 2 is what ignites a discussion.
I have spent many, many years of my life being defensive. And one day, I woke up, and realized that being plant-strong was the one thing that I didn’t need to defend. It was meant for me to promote. I am a plant-strong promoter. And, there is a trickle down to that, because when you start to promote ONE thing in your life, all of a sudden, you start promoting other things AND becoming less defensive. It is like you are peeling away layers and layers of resentment and unhappiness.
But, do you want to save time over the holidays? Instead of getting into a debate, heated discussion, etc. about kale, nutritional yeast and the like, try this. Do not defend your being plant-strong, simply promote it. Tell others the one thing that makes you feel great from being plant-strong, and end the discussion right there. If you are giving gifts, make it a plant-strong themed gift. If you are visiting friends and relatives, make and take your favorite plant-strong food. Wear your KALE t-shirt and start a friendly discussion. But, defend nothing.
Defending your plant-strong status of well-being requires loads of time. So, spread the love, keep it simple, and promote being plant-strong the best way you know.
You’ll save loads of time.
