Nachos, chili, chips, deep fried animal bits – all foods associated with Super Bowl parties. But no more. We have put together the ultimate recipe guide for hosting a plant-strong Super Bowl party that you will never forget. Your friends will pay no attention the the game, they will all be asking you how you created such an amazing spread of food! No one will pay any attention to those commercials, because they will be mesmerized by your fantastic plant-strong chili! I can’t even think of anything to express how amazing y’all are!!! I follow all of the vegan pages and doctors and you guys top the cake (PLANT STRONG) when it comes to helping people.
I’m going to make the following:
    Potato Pizza
    Fruit Kabobs

None of my favorite teams are in it this year! But we still love having a party, and I think it’s a great idea to do a 28 day challenge starting on the Super Bowl, how much fun!!

You guys are freakin hillarious! I wasn’t going to have plant-strong food, but this is changing my mind. I’m going to do it!
I liked these ones: fruit pie, lasagna, tamale bites, wings, mexican dips and chips!
I’m going to keep this recipe guide on my refrigerator, I have most of these because I have the book, but they are so much easier to read. LOVE ENGINE 2!! I HOPE I WIN!!!

Last year I made a REALLY big deal about having a Plant-strong Superbowl party and compiled tons of recipes on the subject on my blog. Here are the photos of the actual event: http://healthygirlskitchen.blogspot.com/2011/02/our-plant-strong-super-bowl-party-recap.html
You guys were very supportive of the idea (thank you!) and I tried to get some other bloggers to blog about Plant-strong Superbowl Parties too. Hopefully, this is an idea that will continue to grow and grow. It certainly was a bit of a shock to my guests, but I hope they appreciated feeling good after the game and not gross!

This year we are going to someone else’s home for a big party. I plan to bring lots of Plant-strong goodies to share with all of the SAD eaters and hopefully win some hearts! xoxo

    E2 Nachos
    E2 Two-Alarm Chili
    Happy Herbivore Mexican Dip
    E2 Brownies
    Fruit Kabobs
This will be delicious. Thanks for the help. 😀

Thank you RIP!!!!!!!! OMG I am so excited I could cry! I am really going through some financial problems right now and I haven’t been able to buy your book, yet. But I’ve been able to start the 28 day challenge because of how much you give people online, I can’t tell you how grateful I am for that. When I’m a little more stable with money I will buy all those shirts and hopefully an immersion!!
I am going to my friends house, but she has been really interested in what I’m doing, so I’m going to suggest that we have a plant strong party! What I’d make if I were doing it all is pizza, mexican dip, tamale bites and the dumpster cobbler. Thank you again Rip for this post it is really amazing what you do for everyone. Toni from FL

Corn Dogs!! Mac and Cheez!! Pizza!! This is heaven for the firehouse crew I work with! Luckily, the majority are at least willing to taste something plant strong. If I work on Superbowl Sunday, my compatriots will also be my kitchen lab rats, aka party invitees. If I don’t work, I hate to say it, but I’ll probably be outdoors hiking. I’ll definitely try these recipes, though, and keep them on hand for Spring Training and Opening Day!!

Splash some Tabasco sauce on the sides of a large bowl. Use it to catch the popcorn from a hot air popper. Tumble the first bits of popcorn around as they hit the bowl – like a tumble dryer. Hot, spicy and no added fat popcorn!

Trader Joes makes an awesome oil-free, no salt added chipotle salsa – it’s always a hit! My preference is to use baked potato wedges (especially sweet potatoes) for dippers.

I also make a mean bean-salsa dip using homemade “refried” beans (I soak and cook pinto beans, then drain and rinse, then put the beans in a pot with a little water, some taco seasonings and hot sauce, and when they’re simmering, use an immersion blender until they’re a nice smooth consistency). This is great for dipping veggie sticks, the potato wedges, or homemade tortilla “chips” (just slice tortillas into wedges and bake until they’re crispy).

We also made, last week, an awesome posole soup from the World’s Healthiest Foods website. It was a big hit!

I can’t say enough about what Engine 2 Diet and Forks Over Knives has given my family. I am a single dad with two daughters both in middle school in rural Ohio and have both become plant strong. With that said we are having a Super Bowl party starting with the viewing of FOK before the game and a great spread with Tofu-Spinach Dip, lettuce wraps, and some personal potato pizzas. Keep up the great work and Good Luck to all with the start of your 28 day challenge.

If I win, I’ll take it as confirmation that I really should give plant-based a serious try. I make this really great kale salad. But, my husband’s a meat-eater and I’m completely stumped by the thought of even proposing meatless eating on the SuperBowl!!!

No harm, now fowl – literally, if i don’t win…we’ll be taking it slow with some baked fish kabobs. Oh, how I’m gonna miss my turkey chilli!

I think i’m going to make a mexican layered dip. I made some refried black beans (sans oil) and froze it so it would be perfect! I’ll layer it with jalapeno’s, red peppers, tomatoes, salsa, green onions and guacamole. I’m not going to use vegan sour cream or cheese so I can cut the fat! I’m going to a party so I’ll just bring that. 🙂

  • Holly

Vegan chili and HH layer dip. We are going to a party at church. I’m going to wait until all the meat eaters enjoy the food to clue them in on vegan-ness!

My husband is having a super bowl party with some of his Masonic brothers. My husband and I are the only vegans, but I think everyone will love the recipes. I am definitely going to send him off with the nachos and Mexican dip. I’ll probably do the chili too because we LOVE vegan chili (and I can steal some for myself). And, if that’s not enough I might try a vegan dip I saw in this month’s issue of Vegetarian Times as well.

For superbowl I’ll be making black bean salsa, hummus, guacamole, large salad to include major variety of fruits & veggies, corn tortilla chips (no salt) w/garlic oregano, smoothies (mixed fruite, almond milk, flax seed & bananna), and veggie tray to dip in hummus/avacado and bowl of grapes. I need this variety for my family of 8 with different tastes preferences. Hope we enjoy the game as much as we enjoy the food!! 😉

This will be our first plant-strong Super Bowl as we just started this journey in June.

I will probably go with my hubby & son’s favorites:
My vegan chili (so good that I really want to find a contest to enter in)
    Mixed-berry/Banana Smoothies
from E2 — Macaroni & Not Cheese, Hummus (with lots of veggies for dipping) & Blueberry Dumpster Fire Cobbler

And I think this will be a great time to try the E2 Brownies.

And thanks to Wendi (healthy girls kitchen) for the great link above. I’m always on the look out for more great recipes.

As many have already said, I am so thankful for the support of blogs and webpages like these (and Happy Herbivore!). It certainly makes it easier to remain plant-strong in a meat-eating world.
I’m getting some practice pre-Super Bowl since my daughter’s birthday is this weekend. I’m planning plenty of party food to see what hits and what misses. It’s Winnie the Pooh themed (so you’ll understand the references)…
:: Kanga’s Pocket (Pita) and dips (red pepper/walnut, and light hummus)
:: Roo’s Roll Ups (Veggie Sushi rolls with brown sticky rice)
:: Rabbit’s Garden Goodies (Organic Veggies, Fruit, and dips)
    :: Eeyore’s Gloomy Guacamole
:: Heffalump Nut Cheese platter, with fruit compotes and whole grain crackers
:: and… TIGGER JUICE!! Carrot and Apple juice freshly made in my Breville.

See, even the kids will get a kick out of plant-strong eating when they see THIS menu. If I score a “touchdown” with any of these, they’ll be on the menu for the following weekend. Wish me luck… I have a lot of preparations to finish before we celebrate on Sunday! 🙂

Having a plant-strong Super Bowl Party in Boston—need I say who we are rooting for? 😉

    I plan on making:
    • E2 veggie lasagna (modified with the veggies we all love here: with roasted red peppers, eggplant, shredded zucchinis, portabella mushrooms)
    • black bean/brown rice/veggie burgers
    • nachos & veggies with salsa, guac & hummus plate
    • fruit salad bowl
    • kale/banana/blueberry smoothies (made with a splash of oat milk) mmmm…..
    Did I forget anything?? 😛

I recently read an article with tips and recipes on how to throw a “regular” Super Bowl party and I must admit, after eating soooo healthy, the foods we used to eat don’t seem appetizing AT ALL to any of us. LOVE that I get to control what goes into our tummy at our own party rather than guessing what everything contains at someone else’s!

PS: Please bring an E@ Immersion to Boston area. 🙂

But since the Pats are my hometown team the nachos, bean dip with veggies, chili will be on the menu next Sunday.
Oh and I lost 2 lbs this week and I’m not even done with the book or ‘officially’ following the plan yet…YAY!

Have to thank you Rip. I would never be able to do this with out all this support, and this recipe guide is sweet! I agree it is much easier to read than the book and I can keep it out in the firehouse.
We are going to have a plant-strong party for the Super Bowl we’re going to make Raise the Roof lasagna, potato pizza’s, brownies, fruit kabobs and maybe the 2 alarm chili, it depends on how many people come out.
Thanks again for what you do!

Love you site!!! Been following your story before you ever had the site. Love your dad’s book too with your mom’s recipes (would love a new book from them)!

I’m hosting the Super Bowl Party this year to ensure that the snacks/dinner are something I can eat. I’m going to serve a Vegan Chili, some homemade rolls, a vegetable & fruit platter and a few other treats that I can come up with. I’m in the middle of developing a healthy dessert option that will convince the guests that we don’t live without any indulgences!

Last year, when I was not vegan ( I have 2 daughters who are.), I tried 3 vegan dishes from recipes a daughter gave me. They didn’t turn out well, so I was unimpressed with vegan cooking.

This year, after using E2 recipes during my cleanse, I am making some truly great dishes. My wife is actually impressed with my meals and raves to friends and family. So, this year, I can’t wait to prepare some great E2 dishes for the Super Bowl. Go Plant-Strong!

Hi!! Normailly for Super Bowl I go to my friends house and we feast all afternoon….pizza..wings…rotel cheese dip. I have recently gone vegan but my friends have not. I would love to be able to bring “substitutes” to the party. The more it tastes like the “real” thing, I think I may be able to win them over 🙂

Our Superbowl party revolves around watching the ads. It doesn’t matter which teams are playing (although being a Cleveland Browns fan I do have dreams). I liked the looks of all the recipes, but I have narrowed the menu down to Nachos, two-alarm chili, Happy Herbivore: Mexican dip, and brownies. I’l be making Lynn’s meatloaf and Raise the Roof! Sweet Potato Lasagna before the Superbowl gets here. Thanks!

Rip and Engine 2 people. I found out about you because a friend of mine shared a post you had on facebook, so I liked your facebook page. I didn’t really buy into all the vegan stuff at first, I’ve always loved my meat and cheese. But I have some health problems and I was interested in things you were posting. I’ve made changes to my diet just by following you on facebook and I’ve been having really good results I cut out animals, oil and processed foods and finally decided to get the book this week and watch your movie on netflix. I am going to show kitchen rescue at my Super Bowl party (GO GIANTS!!!!) my family is supportive and my friends because they want to see me be healthy so I haven’t had any complaints.
So thank you very much. It is the little things that count, who knew my friend sharing a post on facebook would change my life!!

I’m going to do FOK before the Super Bowl! Thanks for the great idea, a few girlfreidns and me are going to start the 28 day challenge on the Super Bowl, our husbands will be there, not sure if they will join, but I just showed my dh that viagra video and he was interested!

I’m a rare Giants fan in Plantstrongadelphia! I’ll be hosting a party this year and weill be makinga huge pot of E2 chili and will put on on baked potatoes, vegan hot dogs and nachos. Will also be having E2 blueberry cobbler. Will also serve a trail mix with cherios, unsweetened cranberries, toasted almonds and flax seeds and rasins. A dip made with cauliflower (taking a page out of a low carb recipe book and making it vegan) along with baked corn chips (take a regular corn tortilla, quarter it and bake on a non-stick cooking sheet) along with vegetables (celery, carrots).

    Vegan chili from Rip’s book.

Will try to whip up a desert or two from Engine 2 or Dr. Esselstyn’s book.

However! If we don’t have company, will be heading for a 20 minute walk to get some fresh air. After a couple of hours, will need a break from all of the violence, concussions and broken limbs. :o)

We are avid followers of E2 and in the past year it literally transformed our lives! Honestly, we are not big super bowl fans at all. However, we plan to eat what we always do – why should one event dictate a different menu? So – we will be eating a big old pot of veggie soup with a side of rice cakes and hummus. And for dessert – some vegan brownies and a tall glass of kale smoothie! Yum!

    Fresh tabouli with pita
    Hummus and veggie crudités
Tacos with the most amazing, simplest filling: drain and rinse a can of garbanzo beans and pour in a pan. Add in a jar of any flavor salsa and heat on high until it reduces and thickens. This is so delicious and filling!

I think it might be fun to kick off (no pun intended!) a 28 day challenge! For the party I like the idea of the chicken wings from HH’s recipe, also tamale bites, 2 alarm chili, nachos and brownies of course! I don’t know how you have time do so so much, but I really appreciate all the hard work and dedication!

My young kids are even getting into it! Of course, the Engine 2 recipes are certainly helping. I got a copy of the book at my library and would love to have my own! We plan on serving 3 bean chili and potato pizzas at the party.

We don’t host or go to a party, Though I’ve been to a quilters SBParty!

We’ll have a nice green salad, kale butter (we use it as a dip) for dipping veggies (carrot, celery sticks and radishes, and red and yellow peppers), a big pot of vegan veggie-black bean chili with baked flour and corn tortilla’s (home baked) for crumbling in the chili, with a fresh fruit smoothie for dessert (frozen fruit blended with a little bit of water and/or almond milk), served with hot tea or just lemon water.

Along with hummus, ranch dip, and black bean dip (with kale mixed in for an extra vitamin punch!), and a huge veggie tray (okay, and some whole wheat pita and tortilla chips too.) We don’t like using utensils during football games. 🙂

I’m going to make the Easy Vegan Chili with the Pumpkin Spiced cornbread muffins and the Cheezy Macaroni Bake with Butternut Squash. My friends tried to add more vegetables/less meat to their diet but gave up. Maybe after these recipes they’ll decide to give it another chance.

My numbers were bad I was put on High Blood Pressure meds and Cholesterol meds. This is my 4 th week of the E2 lifestyle… I also interested my meat and cheese eating Husband and thanks to your wonderful, tasty, recipes and Whole Food market. We are both in for the long haul. It isn’t a Diet, it’s life a style,,.. I can’t wait to get my new Lab tests done and my husband doesn’t miss the meat at all. SO for Super Bowl even though we are die hard Chicago Bears fans. We are having Vegan Spinach dip, Tacos and Blueberry Dumpster Cobbler. And we are both looking forward to that day. We have more energy and sleeping better too. All we can say is THANK YOU RIP!!!!!!!!! God Bless

We aren’t probably going to watch the Super Bowl – maybe the commercials but the recipes are fantastic! We switched to a plant based diet in July after we watched Forks over Knives. My husband (who had heart disease at 37 and prostate cancer at 57 wasn’t real keen on giving up meat as I had been suggesting from all my reading. After watching FOK he went cold turkey! Now that’s a miracle!

As I’m typing this we sit in the hospital at Ohio State Medical Center while the doctors try to figure out what they thought was an infection in his spine from the MRI and the cultures are showing nothing. He’s become a “mystery man” and they don’t know how to treat him. He looks and feels great. I think it’s our diet and God have already taken care of it.

Now what will I fix when we get home? The chili and muffins along with the potato pizzas and fruit cabobs. Thank you for changing our family history. 🙂

I’m just learning about plant-strong and am going to search recipes for an appetizer to take to a super bowl party. Since chile will be served, my giant salad BEFORE I go will be great. I’m thinking a veggie tray with hummus will be good to take! No beef, port, fowl, fish or shellfish since Christmas – dairy and oil will disappear very soon! I never win anything but wouldn’t it be fun to be one this time!

We’re going to a friend’s party at their house. It is a mixed group; about a fourth of us are eating vegetarian, if not vegan. So, I will bring the Engine 2 Two-Alarm Chili. Looks delish; I’m sure everyone will love it.

Outside of the party, I will be trying the meatloaf, lasagna, Shepard’s pie, … OK, basically everything! Thanks for the help!!

Rip, I wanted to thank you for always being active and around online. I really love this blog, check it every day, and have to say this post goes above and beyond the call of duty! The recipes are amazing, have to agree with some of the other comments, I love the book, but it’s hard to use the recipes when they are in the book, this is much easier. And I really love the recipe from Happy Herbivore as well.
We’ve decided to launch a 28 day challenge with our vegan group in NY! We’ll also start on the Super Bowl and watch the Kitchen Rescue movie before the game!
    Okay, what to make!
Lynn’s meatloaf (because you posted the pic on facebook)
    mexican dip
    fruit pie

    Thanks Rip!!!

So they are all getting this and we’ll make some other stuff. I think we might do that burger bar idea, we’re in florida so we can grill outside and keep stuff outside that might be fun maybe even some grilled corn NO BUTTER!!! Thanks for always being there when I need you, your truly a fireman! Always ready to run to the rescue!!!

I love the support! I lowered my cholesterol in 28 days!
I am making Penne with Broccoli and Sun Dried Tomatoes –
Prep Time: 15 mins | Cook Time: 25 mins | Servings: 8 | Difficulty: Easy
    • 1 lb whole wheat penne pasta (or other short pasta)
    • 1 cup vegetable broth
    • 1 garlic clove, minced
    • 2 tbsp chopped pepper
    • 10 cups of 2 in piece trimmed fresh broccoli (4 small heads)
    • 1 cup julienned sun-dried tomatoes
    • 1 cup kalamata olives
    • 2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley
    • 2 tbsp fresh chopped basil
    • pine nuts
    • nutritional yeast
    • Options: 16 ounces artichoke hearts, quartered, add with sun dried tomatoes
    • vegetarian sausage
Cook pasta to directions. Cook to al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
Cook broccoli in 2 cups water till just tender.
While pasta and broccoli are cooking, Heat 3 tbsp vegetable broth in large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and pepper to skillet. Cook until softened – about five minutes. Keep adding tablespoons of broth if pan gets dry.
If using veggie sausage: Add 1 inch pieces of sausage product to skillet and brown, about 5 minutes.
Drain pasta and broccoli and return to pots. Add sun dried tomatoes, olives and herbs to broccoli and heat with reserved liquid for a couple minutes.
Toss in pasta and veggie sausage until warmed through. Add pasta water if it is needed.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add nutritional yeast and pine nuts to individual servings or toss in with pasta.

How exciting! I am brand new to this lifestyle, and having just recently watched Forks Over Knives, thought I should check out this website. I’m glad I did! My husband has numerous health problems, and I think this is the answer for him. He is resistant to change, but if I can feed him food like the recipes you list (especially the wings!) during a manly event like the super bowl, I think I am well on my way to changing how my family eats. Thanks so much for the wonderful information. It would just be icing on the cake to win the sweepstakes at this point!
