Good news from Audree!

Every Friday we like to end the week with some good news. This week, Audree tells us what has happened since she (and her husband) became plant-strong.

“I actually have a pretty good story and I didn’t think I would for a while there. My husband and I decided to try the E2 diet after watching Forks Over Knives. We have always been organic but this diet really made sense to us as my husband suffers from high cholesterol and fatty infiltration of the liver. I was recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Complex Migraines whereas I have relatively been healthy up until this summer. After a go around with our insurance company trying to prove that I do not have a preexisting condition, I knew something had to change for me as well.

So, we’ve been on the diet for over 2 months now and we both feel fantastic and find the diet pretty easy to follow. I have also removed gluten from my diet as it doesn’t sit well with me. I have lost 7 lbs and my husband has lost 25lbs!  I run 5-6 days/week 3 miles/day and really love it!  I feel so motivated now and full of energy!

Here’s the shocker. I decided not to take the Synthroid prescribed for my Hypothyroidism and see where diet and exercise would bring me. I went for my follow up appointment yesterday and my Doctor could not believe her eyes!! My TSH is down to .9 and I no longer have hypothyroidism!!  She insists that I am taking the Synthroid but I brought the prescription that I never filled as proof! She is actually having me retest my blood as she just can’t believe that you can reverse a disease like hypothyroidism with diet and exercise alone. I do not take anything, not even multivitamins. My headaches are gone, my progesterone levels are back up (which is great for ensuring a healthy pregnancy) and everything looked great except for my vitamin D levels so I will take a supplement for that.

I’m just so delighted because initially I was a bit down on the diet because my idea of positive results are proven on the scale and I’ve honestly had more success with WW’s in the past. I never really considered the whole package, looking good, feeling great and being super healthy!  So happy! Now we just have to send my husband to the doctor to see how well he is doing!
