Dear Rip,
Your book was one of a number I purchased and read in my search for a weight loss program for my husband. But after I had abnormal results on a stress test, my cardiologist wanted to put me on statin drugsand recommended an angioplasty and stents to open possible blockages. I asked my doctor to give me a two month grace period and then went home and pulled your book off the shelf. Exactly 8 weeks later I went back to have my second blood test to review my cholesterol levels. I learned that as a result from my dietary changes my cholesterol had dropped from 266 to 203, 63 points! My LDL has also dropped 44 points from 180 to 136! Let me add that I considered myself a healthy eater. I was never a big meat eater and almost never ate beef or pork. A typical meal for us was a green salad and a chicken breast or spinach spaghetti with ground turkey. Of course, I was told that my high cholesterol was genetic because of my family’s history of heart disease and that I could not control it. On my next visit the cardiologist stated the I did not need statin drugs and advised me to keep doing what I was doing. Today, on my second visit since I started the Engine 2 Diet, my EKG was normal. In light of the fact that on my last visit it showed that I had an extra heartbeat, this is amazing!
As a tall women, 6′ 1″ and 184 lbs. I was not considered overweight. I could not be happier that a bonus from the Engine 2 diet is that 25 lbs. just melted off! I am amazed that I have not had any cravings and rarely feel hungry although I eat less (I am no longer snacking all the time). I have not been 157 lbs for over 10 years! I turned 63 years old in October and my body is feeling lighter, cleaner as a result of the Engine 2 Diet. My husband has also lost 15 lbs. just from following your diet meals when he is at home. Thank you for mainstreaming being plant-strong!
