Michelle’s Story

Tears are streaming down my face as I write this.  I guess I hadn’t realized how worried I have been.  My mom is 63 years young, and is vibrant, beautiful and engaging, and most people think we’re sisters when we go out together.

In August 2010 she had her blood work done, and her total cholesterol was 315!  LDL was 208.  By November 2011, after making a few efforts of her own, her total was down to 306, but the LDL was up to 213.  I didn’t find out about these numbers until a few months ago.  I’m sure she didn’t tell me because she knew I’d have a conniption fit, which is exactly what I did.
Almost by accident (or, was it?!) I came across FOK in my Netflix queue.  As a former personal trainer & weight loss coach, my interest was piqued, and I watched in amazement.  That led me to buy The China Study, and I started reading it outloud to my mom.  Next I watched Food, Inc., all of which sealed my decision that I didn’t want to eat animals anymore.  I got your E2 Diet (Kindle for my iPhone, by the way) and I offered to cook for her if she’d really try it and stick with it for a month.  We both started exactly one week ago, Day 1 was Monday.
She had her blood tested again this morning.  I’ve been very worried that in only one week, there wouldn’t be enough of a difference in her numbers, and she would discount the efficacy of a PSWFD (Plant Strong Whole Foods Diet!), and wouldn’t stick with it.
The doctor’s office just called, and guess what?!?!?!
Her total cholesterol is 265!!!  Her LDL is down to 173.4!!!!!  Almost 40 points EACH in just ONE WEEK!!!!  In just ONE week!!!!  I am SO thrilled and happy and relieved!  I can’t wait to get her tested again after the full month!!  I can’t even believe it!  Oh yeah, and this was the doctor who told her she would not be able to make more than a 5% reduction in her cholesterol on diet/exercise alone.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!  You have, probably undoubtedly, saved her life.  I can’t stop crying.  Thank you so much!  I am over the moon.  And we BOTH were worried about getting enough protein, but we feel great!  And satisfied!
Thank you so much.  You have a huge advocate here, and I know a TON of people!  They are ALL going to hear about the E2 PSWFD, whether they want to or not! :)

    Oh sweetie – congratulations!! I’m SO excited for you. Great job, now keep it up. You both will see huge changes. Now she just needs to prove her doctor SO wrong!. As an aside, regarding the protein – you may find this of interest being a personal trainer. I have been strength training over the summer (not even real heavy) and am building some real nice muscle – chest, arms, legs. I’m almost 60. No protein shakes, just straight up whole food making sure I get my protein through beans, lentils, tofu, etc. Keep going!!!!

    same thing happened to my sister in law – went in three weeks after starting the plant strong diet and dropped in chloestrol and blood sugar readings both. Her doctor was very happy and so was she!

    Starting my entire family on plant based whole food diet after watching FOK. We went our first week with two meals that had meat, we opted not to through food out but to use up as we were down to going shopping anyways. It amazed me that my family is willing to change and it helps with the literature as we are a family of athletes. I have three boys and my husband and I are tow retired basketball pros whom need to get back on track, to say the least. Next week, we start the 28 challenge! Wish us luck!

    That’s wonderful! This is what I want for my husband and father. My mother started soon after I did but our men, while believe more veggies is important, neither want to give up anything. I’m hoping our examples lead them that way.

  16. Nice story. So it seems that this book really helped you and your mom a lot. Many books are being published nowadays, so im sure many not only you are being helped by a Physician’s book like that
