I just started and have a few questions on some contradictions in the book and how to implement them.

I see that the larabar energy bars have more than 25% fat – aren't we supposed to avoid this amount?

I also had a hard time finding any Veggie burgers that did not have dairy in them. I finally settled on the Boca vegan. Does anyone have any suggestions for other brands?

I was making my own burgers after I went to the E2 Immersion but that went by the wayside for now.  I buy Amy's California burgers – they have no animal products in them.  I'm not sure of the percentage of fat but they only have 5 grams of fat per burger, and of course that includes the fat in the oats in them not just oil.  So for an occasional burger that is what we are using.  We don't have any diagnosed health problems.  If I or my husband had heart disease, I wouldn't use them.

The NY Times veggie burgers only take 10 min to make and you can freeze them. This is a much better option than purchased burgers.

I don't buy Larabars or anything like them so I cannot respond to that part of your post.

What is a NY times veggie burger?  Do you buy them or is there a recipe for them?

While I don't eat the Lara Bars, I would say that if it's the right type of fat you should be ok.  That said, don't eat 12 of them.

The NY Times burger is great and in Brendan Brazier's book Thrive, he has mutliple different veggie burger options.  As someone shared earlier, they freeze up perfectly.  Take a weekend and make a big mess of them and you can pull them when you need them.  You'd be much better off making them on your own as to buying the various processed versions available at the store.

Cheers..

Do you want to cut out sweets?  If you do then don't consume these kinds of products.  Since some bars contain coconut and chocolate you could find yourself craving more and more.  If you can control yourself and are of normal weight, fine.  But if you are trying to loss weight and have an adiction to sweets (me use to until I started the diet 8.5 years ago and broke it) then substitute a wonderful fruit salad.  Better for you and will be satisfying and filling.

Good Luck.

Here is the NY Times veggie burger recipe. I use parsley instead of all of that cilantro. It is good both ways.

So are Boca burgers bad or not on the approved list?

Vegan boca burgers are okay but they have a long list of ingredients and are not as healthy for you as the NY Times veggie burgers that just have black beans, carrots, oats, Spicy tomatoes, parsley/cilantro and spices.

I also really love Beet Burgers and take them to cookouts all of the time and people love them. Here is the link to my Spark Recipes site with the recipe.
