Hi,
Is there anyone with Diabetes Type II doing this diet? If so, how has that affected your blood sugar? I haven't read the book yet (currently waiting on it from the library), but have read here and reviews on Amazon so I generally have a good idea what the diet is like. The type of foods to eat seem to go against everything that diabetics should not eat in terms of keeping good blood sugar numbers.
Thanks,
Cindy

My sister has diabetes and with the diet she was able to keep her numbers very low and on an even keel.
The whole grains really made a difference with her.

Hi Cathey,
Thanks for your response. Is your sister on medication of any kind for her diabetes (oral or insulin?). I am trying to control my blood sugar through diet and exercise. I'd rather not take medication if I can help it.
Thanks,
Cindy

She is on oral meds and had been for several years before starting E2. She has done much better since E2 at keeping her blood sugars good. She has been able to get some of her meds changed to lower doses and off one entirely. She could probably go off the last two if her doctor would cooperate. He feels that diabetics should be on insulin no matter what and my sister had to fight him to keep off insulin. I would have gone to a different doctor long ago.
Long story short, if you aren't on meds now, you should be able to keep from going on them following E2 and lifestyle changes and to stay healthy.
Good luck!

We are starting with breakfasts and Meatless Mondays. My husband has Type ll diabetes and is on meds for this as well as cholesterol and high blood pressure. Today he ate the Rip's Big Bowl and then went to work out. Two hours after he ate the Big Bowl, took his meds and worked out, his blood sugars were over 200. When he took his blood sugar in the A.M. before the Rip's, it was in the 120 range. So, we are not sure what is going on. We love the Rips Big Bowl and I have been able to lose that 8 lbs. that have been nagging me for a year or two.
Any ideas? Overall, we like what we are learning and want to tweek this diet and eventually eat less meat and more grain and vegetable.

Elaine,
If I understand you correctly. You are following the E2 diet for 9 out of 21 weekly meals?
Honestly I wouldn't expect to see much improvment in blood sugar or cholesterol until you were close to 100% compliant.
I have type 2 diabetes and had to signiicantly reduce my medication to keep from having low blood sugar, after 2 weeks of 100% compliance.
